2015 07 05 Versailles to Calais The biggest roundabout feature yet, a drill from the channel tunnel.
5th July 2015
Versailles to Coquelles (near the channel train tunnel)
Finally a nice cool morning! Things were looking good until
we tried to ring Megan for her 40th
birthday and my phone decided not to work :( Finally after consulting the great
god google we managed to get it going.
So off we went towards Calais. Things were going well beautiful scenery nice
cool weather etc etc.
We stopped for breakfast and that’s when the rain started and didn't stop, hence the rain spots on the photo’s.
20 kilometres from
our hotel Maurice announces “oh gosh we have a puncture” or words with a similar
meaning. A well placed bus shelter, a
curious cow and an hour later and we were on our way again.
Not much to write about Coquelles it appears to exists due to
the tunnel channel and that’s about it really.
Although we did meet a really nice
couple from the UK and spent a pleasant evening having a couple of drinks, a
bit of dinner and some story telling.
Ready to set off.
On the go.
Breakfast stop.
Our route took us through parts of
the Somme where poppies on the side of the road always seem to take on an extra special meaning.
A curious cow watches on as Maurice
works out how to use the puncture kit.
Looking very pleased with himself.
