2015 05 28 St Raphael to Beziers

28th-29th May
St Raphael to Beziers

We covered about 488 kms to get to Beziers which is a long ride for us as we have only been averaging between 250-300 kms a day this trip. We were both keen to get out of the heavily populated areas around the French Riviera, as nice as the coastal scenery is, the traffic isn't pleasant.  Beziers was only going to be a one night stop but it turned out to be an interesting very old little city so we spent an extra day looking around.

First coffee stop for the day.  Maurice even got a quick lesson on how to order a flat white in French and it is working well so far :)

This farmer must have got a good deal on solar panels!

On the go shots.

Some sights around Beziers.

A bit gruesome but the town was the sight of a massacre during the crusades.

The first Canal Bridge we have seen. It is shame there wasn't a boat going over it while we were there.

Our motel and the view from the balcony.

You need to zoom in to see the windy bits!

27th May
Alassio, Italy to St Raphael, France via Monaco

After a great short stop in Alassio, which included the best table for dinner and a 5 star breakfast this morning, we headed toward Monaco.  The road was fantastic, except for the actual traffic in a  round the principality, but again we were on the wrong side  of the road for any really good pictures.  We only covered a short distance but it was a loooong day, so our over night stop was in a very run of the mill chain  motel on the side of a main road.
The view from our Alassio Hotel.  Just a bit further around you could see the sea.

We weren't suppose to ride on the road past the Casino but some one decided it would be a good idea to ride over the barrier tape! The pictures aren't that flash but hopefully the Gopro video will be okay :)

Obviously we weren't the only Aussie's in town.

A lot of the set up for the Formula 1 was still in place but we got to ride on a bit of the circuit.

That's not Nice!

26th May
Rapallo to Alassio

We continued our travels along the coast today.  We didn't get very far but it was a great ride.  Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the road so the "on the run photo's" aren't all that great.

Plenty of space for shopping on one of these!

You can't really tell unless you zoom right in but the ship in this picture is the "Costa Concordia".

And I thought I carried every thing but he even has the kitchen sink!

 Today's coffee stop.

Alassio wasn't a planned stop but it is a nice town to spend the night.
