27th June 2015
El Saler to Montblanc
Today was an early start with breakfast a couple of hours later at Mr Rabbits, Peniscola, another place in 2012. We then headed slightly inland to Montblanc, a beautiful medieval town.

Early morning ride through Valencia.

Just in case you thought I had spelt it wrong.

Breakfast at Mr Rabbits and the rabbit that lives across the road from the cafe.

Views of Montblanc.

Santa Pola to El Saler

Yesterday after a very nice breakfast we continued our way up the East coast to El Saler, a place we stayed in 2012.  It was a relatively short uneventful ride.  The weather is definitely warming up and when we reached the caravan/ camping park we were ready for a swim.  The day continued to be uneventful other than having a rather nice late lunch at a  restaurant that we had been to in 2012.

Unfortunately I ended the day with a migraine which wasn't helped by the large amount of mosquitoes that invaded our little cabin or the neighbours who talked incessantly until early hours of the morning only to be replaced by another set of neighbours who decided to make even more noise when they came back to their cabin about 4.30am.
Lucky it was cheap!

24th -25th  June 2015
Granada to Santa Pola
We headed to the East Coast of Spain and to the seaside town of Santa Pola.  We avoided the Toll-ways but are still travelling on the main roads which provided us with some spectacular scenery.  The mountains and the townships built into the side of them were great but I couldn't get any pictures that did them justice.  When we got closer to the coast we passed through large areas of palm nurseries. The weather is finally warm enough for us both to go into the water for a swim.

Unfortunately I was a bit hot and flustered so we stayed in the first hotel we came across which was a bit on the expensive side.  It all become worth it though when we realised we were on the beach side off the hotel and when I say on the beach I mean ON the beach.  SS Mk II had to stay on the street side right in front of the 24 hour reception desk.

SS Mk II cosy little spot in front of the hotel, the back of the hotel and the view from our balcony.  I love the view and the fact you get champagne with breakfast :)

Now that's something you don't see everyday.
Pictures from our first evenings stroll down the promenade.

Which brings us up to the current day and a couple of pictures from our walk to the post office.

No room left in the restaurant so they just put tables in the parking area on both sides of the street.

Octopus pots.

We have just got back from dinner and another short walk to the fish stalls where the fresh seafood is amazing and they all so have dried & preserved seafood of every kind, we love Spain.

One last thing especially for Dirk & Snuffy. Santa Pola has a lot of topless people on it’s beach which Maurice doesn't mind at all and I am becoming a bit of a fan myself.

22nd – 23rd  June 2015
Gibraltar, UK to Granada, Spain
After a English breakfast and a decent cup of tea, we did another quick lap around the rock before we headed back into Spain.  The weather is definitely getting hotter so more toll-ways today but this will be the last after spending 20+ Euro for the pleasure.  I know that doesn't sound much compared to some places but in Spain that would buy morning tea & lunch and in some cases isn't much less than a night’s accommodation.  Granada is a nice place to visit but unfortunately the main attraction, the Alhambra was booked out so we didn't get to see it, maybe next time after the lotto win :) To make up for it we went to see a Flamenco show, or should I say one and a little bit.  The first was so bad we left after 15 minutes ( a bit like the Scottish experience
 Karen. F.)

We were lucky again with our accommodation, this time a quiet street close to everything for 30 Euro.  SS Mk II had to stay on the street with the millions of other Motorcycles and Scooters but with a reasonably high Police presence and all the security devices we have on it Maurice was pretty relaxed about it.  Speaking of Police presence I didn't get any photo’s but at one of the toll-booths there was a large well armed Civil Guard presence stopping and checking every car for what we think was illegal immigrants.  They even had serious looking road spikes, they definitely weren't mucking around.
I nearly forgot to mention we found a great Tapas  bar where you order a drink and get free Tapas then your order another drink and get some more free Tapas.  We love free Tapas & we love Jambon (pictured above).  In fact we just love Spain :) :)

Breakfast & a good cup of tea in the pretty hotel courtyard to start the day.

Another quick ride around the rock.

Wow that’s hot! and the temperature is pretty warm as well J

Views around
Granada.

A bit of shade over the streets.
Pretty cobbled stone streets

Misters for the restaurant patrons

Tea anyone?

What tha....?

First night, we love Tapas!

Second night, we love good Flamenco!

The male dancer looked like the boy I was going out with before I joined the Navy (Trevor Haby)
but Maurice thought he looked like a young Dennis Morley.
