Zoom in on our map to see the track around the rock!
20th – 21st June 2015
Seville, Spain to Gibraltar, UK
We could have stayed another couple of days in Seville and
had plenty to do but the weather is getting hotter and we have the other coast
to cover. So after any early breakfast
(or what is considered early in Spain) we headed off to Gibraltar. What a surprise this place
turned out to be! By sheer coincidence we managed to drive around it and
through it. Luckily it is only about 6
square kms or now with the all the reclaimed area around it I think it is
closer to 7 square kms. We loved all of
it except the prices and the walk back down the rock, yes we walked all the way
back down !!! And let me tell you it is a bloody long, hot way !!!
The monkeys or The Barbary Macaque’s to be more precise, are fantasic
and I could have watched them all day,
especially the ones with the little babies, oh and the youngsters playing, oh
and the old ones cleaning each other, oh and the chubby ones eating all the
fruit and veg, oh and the cheeky ones nicking stuff from people, oh and the
even cheekier ones jumping on people. I
loved them but was a little bit scared to get to close. But apart from that the
caves were awesome and the siege tunnels were very interesting as well. There was more to see so that’s another place
we could go back to when we win lotto :)
A bit of breakfast to start the day
and if it is good enough for the local constabulary it’s good enough for us.
“On the go”
Views on a way in and around the
Rock, including the runway crossing!
Our digs for the night, the only
cheap place around at 45 pounds ($90) for a basic room with shared bathroom.
Our first afternoon’s walk around Main Street.
The second looooong day on top of
the Rock.
