2015 05 12 Arad to Budapest Hungary
12th-14th May
Arad, Romania to Budapest, Hungary
Another day another country!
If you don't count me nearly flooding the motel room out, the morning and our ride to the border was pretty uneventful.
In fact the entire ride including the border crossing was uneventful. No one tried to kill us on the road today and even when we got to the city the traffic was pretty mild and it even appears that road rules are in fact rules here not just mere suggestions.
The apartment we booked is fantastic and it even has a washing machine :) :)
(Karen Francis I know you would appreciate how happy that made me).
It is a 5 minute walk to the Parliament building!
A couple of shots on the way into the city.
We are so happy with the apartment I had to put a couple of pics in. Even the bike got a special little park behind locked doors! It also has great internet access. :)
Even though this sheep was in a church window it still made us nervous!
And that was just the first full day in Budapest!

We visited two quite sobering sites this afternoon. The first was the shoes on the Danube. The second was the small museum which is dedicated to the massacre that took place in the Parliament Square in October 1956. The surrounding buildings have brass balls marking some of the bullet holes.

A 5 minute walk rewards us with this view across the Danube from the Parliament House Square.
Yesterday we got up early to try and beat all the tourist's. The idea was to get some clear shots but unfortunately the street sweeper was already out.
Even though this sheep was in a church window it still made us nervous!
The best way to start a new day of sight seeing is with a coffee in the closest cafe.
