20th April Eceabat to Dikili
Today we crossed over the Dardanelles from Eceabat to Canakkale on the ferry. It only took about 1/2 an hour and cost about $6 which is really good value considering how far you would have to ride otherwise. We were lucky that the weather had calmed down since yesterday and it was a calm pleasant crossing.
On our way to Dikili we stopped off at Balikesir for a coffee and met 'OJ' an expat from Melbourne.
Dikili has a great water front area with lots of Café's but they are only any good if you like Turkish coffee or Nescafe :(
Still the sight of all the little fishing boats is great.
There aren't as many scooters as there is in Vietnam or Malaysia but there are plenty and they use them for everything including gas bottle delivery.
It was a bit unfortunate that we had to get back on the bike to ride to go to dinner but it was certainly worth it. We had a great meal with really good service, a couple of glasses of good white wine for me and some live background music. Oh and the view wasn't half bad either.
